Warning to miscreant motorists

Updated 2016-12-22 09:29:05 Shanghai Daily

To deter illegal parking, police are installing speakers at places in Shanghai where the offense is rampant.

Police in Sijing Town said yesterday that they had sited six speakers near Sijing and Sheshan Metro stations, Sijing Hospital and a bank. When police at the surveillance center spot illegal parking, they warn offenders to pull away immediately.

Police said they have also targeted illegal taxis and vendors via the surveillance cameras.

While most offenders leave immediately after hearing the "voice of God," anyone who braves the speakers will find police at the center would informed their colleagues near the surveillance scene to enforce the law and if necessary have offenders' vehicles towed away.
