The Shanghai Smiles Charity Run on April 9 will kick off a series of running competitions in the city this year.

Organized by the Shanghai Smiles Foundation and the Shanghai East Best Lansheng Event Management Company, the annual event will feature 4,000 runners — 3,000 in the 10-kilometer race and 1,000 in the 3-kilometer family run. The routes will cover Pudong's Qiantan area, including Qiantan Park, Qiantan Avenue and Yaoti Road.

Runners can log on to www.shang-ma.com/sehome.dhtml for registration by next Friday. The fee is 100 yuan (.5) per person for the 10km race and 40 yuan for the 3km run. All money will go to charity. The top 20 male and female winners will get a place in the Shanghai International 10K Race on October 22.
