Tourists harass a peacock at Badaling Safari World, Beijing.

(ECNS) -- Tourists were seen chasing peacocks and plucking their tail feathers on Tuesday at Badaling Safari World, said a manager of the park.

Photos posted online show two adults and two children harassing the peacocks, with the man holding tail feathers in his hand.

“Two tourists, together with their children, chased the peacocks and plucked their tail feathers,” a netizen surnamed Chen told the Beijing Morning Post. They “scared the peacocks,” he said, adding that “such behavior was also very cruel.”

Chen said he and several other tourists tried to stop them, but to no avail.

The park manager said visitors can interact closely with the peacocks, feed them or take photos, but the park will stop anyone hurting the wildlife.
