At least 29 people were injured after a truck slammed into a tram in Parkville in the Australian city of Melbourne on Monday morning, local media reported.
The crash occurred on Elliot Avenue, about 4 kilometers north of the central business district (CBD), at about 8:00 a.m. local time (2200 GMT), when most people were on their way to work. The truck carrying soil weighed about 25 tons and slammed into the route 58 tram, which was carrying about 100 passengers. As a result, the truck tipped on its side and the tram derailed.
The driver of the tram and 28 passengers on board sustained light injuries.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Transportation was disrupted in the area due to the accident.
