(ECNS) -- A police drama produced by real officers has gone viral for both its humorous storytelling and useful information on safety.
The 5-minute video Policeman Li Jianguo was based on routines at Xinbei Police Bureau in Changzhou City, East China's Jiangsu Province. Four main characters, three men and one woman, reveal the joys and sorrows of their work.
The first episode introduced the correct procedures to save a person from drowning. After it was released on July 17, page views on video platforms Miaopai.com and QQ.com reached 10 million, while numerous social media users shared the web link.
Yu Tao, an instructor at the police station, said the short video was initially made to spread information about swimming safety in summer when school children are on vacation and face more dangers of drowning.
"The conventional way of teaching is too rigid and fails to attract the attention of children, so we thought of a more engaging way," said Yu.
Jiang Liping, a director at the Xinbei police bureau, said all crew in the video are police officers and assistants working on the front line. Professional third-party teams were involved in the production.
Lead character Li Jianguo was played by a police officer with five years real life experience and fond of performing in his spare time.
Following the success of the first video, a second episode is in production, focusing on home security during the summer vacation, according to local police.
The bureau founded a public relations center last July, which is the main unit behind the production of short films on safety awareness.
