Working Together For Future Partnerships
Wang Geng Nian, head of CRI says his piece
A member of the party committee of the state administration of press, publication, radio, film and television, CRI Head Mr Wang Geng Nian offered his best wishes to the Huawen group on its spectacular 20 years. He remarked sympathetically on the collective efforts over that time and showed his gratitude towards the leaders, related departments, all reaches of society and investors.
Mr Wang pointed out that during its 20 years in the public, starting out as a petroleum business, the company has strengthened relentlessly over the course of a bumpy road and reached unprecedented goals gradually becoming a comprehensive media entity.
CRI is a national media outlet that specifically focuses on reaching global audiences in numerous languages. Currently it operates in 65 languages across mediums of audio, video, internet, newspaper, magazine and mobile news. CRI has 100 whole frequency foreign landing stations, over 30 reporters stationed abroad, over 20 visual studios, by which it broadcasts over 3000 hours programming everyday in over 50 capital cities or major cities to a population of over 500 million.
In recent years CRI has focused on constructing a fully incorporated modern international media outlet with a maxim of “Great Culture, Whole Media”. This will graduate into media via broadcasting, video, internet, print, media industry and finally film and television translation, six major business directions. Taking film and television translation as an example, CRI will take responsibility for exporting Chinese film and television. China's President Xi Jin Ping stated in an address with Tanzania in 2013 that the Chinese TV drama “My Wife's Golden Years” is very popular in Tanzania and allows its citizens and netizens to understand more deeply the everyday trials and tribulations of the Chinese common people. It is an example of a Chinese show that is broadcast in Tanzania's native Swahili.
China General Holdings, a subsidiary of CRI, is the true effective controller of Huawen, the two parties share close stocks and shares partnerships and business deals.
Hainan is an important partner and client of CRI. They both share international goals. In recent years the pair have focused on the now well known “one belt, one road” proposal in accordance with the Overall Central Deployment. They have additionally set their sights on Boao Forum events, product promotion events, the establishment of broadcasting channels and media bases, and general all round expansion through partnership.
The 9th April 2013 marks a special day; the initial broadcast of “Voice of Hainan” which received outstanding support from Hainan Provincial committee, government and related municipalities and departments. It became a highlight of the CRI international broadcasts.
At present, Hainan is putting great effort into its self-promotion as an international island of tourism. CRI is building a modern integrated broadcasting base for furthering the spread of broadcasts in Chinese, local transmissions, finance, and duel partnerships, meanwhile Huawen is working on the construction of an online media group platform to expand the “Great Culture, Whole Media” maxim. It is their sincerest hope that Hainan, CRI and Huawen can work side by side and reach the maximum of their potential to achieve yet greater partnerships.
At this anniversary celebration, Huawen Media presented its new logo to the public for the first time, new business cards began circulating recognising the arrival of the digital age. The media group has begun reorganising all assets under its flag and is concentrating on core cultural concepts. They will use the influence and credibility of media to improve the cultural consumption aiming to merge the international broadcasting ethics with local culture resulting in a company grown from a traditional press into a new tech media group.
