Twin sisters find each other after 36 years with police officer's help

They are twin sisters aged 36 but hadn't known each other until last week.

Wang Hui and Wu Li were separated 16 days after birth when they were adopted by different families in eastern China's Hangzhou City.

Both of them tried to find each other for years but failed. But thanks to the efforts of police officer Zheng Hangen, they have finally been reunited.

While on duty at Fuyang South Bus Station, Hangzhou City, on March 11, Zheng was told by staff member Wang Hui in a conversation during his break that the sisters were given up by their parents due to financial difficulties 36 years ago.

"We were sent to different families 16 days after we were born," Wang said, "For the past 20 years, I've tried but still couldn't find her."

Wang said she couldn't help thinking about her sister and asked Zheng, 51, for help. She also said her sister was probably in the same city with her, for a passenger once told her that he had met someone who had a somewhat similar appearance to her in Hangzhou City.

Upon hearing this, Zheng decided to start with the ID database. He returned to his office in the afternoon and found there were 280 women who are born on the same date as Wang.

"Since they are twin sisters, they might look alike, so then I decided to go through all the ID photos," Zheng told

He spent the whole night looking through the ID photos until he saw the photo of Wu Li around 6 o'clock the next morning.

"The woman in this photo looks so identical to Wang," Zheng said, "Nose, mouth, and all the facial features."

He then called Wu, who told him that she knew she had a twin sister but did not know where she was.

On March 12, the twins finally met each other at the police station in Fuyang District, Hangzhou City. They burst into tears as they embraced.

The sisters had actually lived very close to each other, separated only by dozens of meters as Zhejiang Online reported.

Though they have taken totally different paths, they still share something in common. And finding their natural parents is their next mission together.
