Taobao expands cryptocurrency ban

Taobao.com, the online shopping site under Alibaba Group Holding, on Tuesday updated its rules barring sales of goods and services related to cryptocurrencies.

Effective April 17, the rules ban providing services related to initial coin offerings or any service or product that derives from a blockchain technology on the platform, according to a post on its website on Tuesday.

The existing prohibition on selling cryptocurrency mining machines and offering mining tutorials remains unchanged.
