Huiji District of Zhengzhou City is close to the Yellow River to the north and Mangshan Mountain to the west. It covers an area of 232.8 km2, and has a population of 300 thousand. It includes 2 towns, 6 streets and Huiji New Area, Henan Huiji Economic Development Zone (Huiji Characteristic Business District) and Zhengzhou Agricultural High-tech Industrial Demonstration Zone. The name of Huiji comes from the Huiji Bridge on Zhengzhou section of Tongji Canal of the Grand Canal of China and means “gathering favors from all parts, being equal and mutual-benefit, and collecting talents from the whole world, working together with one heart.”

Huiji District has a deep culture and long history. Tongji Canal of the Grand Canal of China, which is a World Cultural Heritage, runs through the territory. Guxing Town, which is the only national famous historical and cultural town in Zhengzhou, is located here. Huiji District has an outstanding ecology with highly livable conditions appropriate for tourism. It includes a natural mountain, i.e, Mangshan Mountain which is the closest to the provincial city. It is close to the Yellow River which is the Mother River of the Chinese nation. The 27-km-long and 1,100-m-wide protective forest belt along the Yellow River has built a green ecological barrier for Zhengzhou citizens. Huiji District has convenient transportation to connect with all parts of the world. The biggest marshalling yard in Asia is located in Huiji District. Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and Zhngzhou-Jiaozuo Intercity Railway run through the south and north. The Yellow River Highway Bridge and the Yellow River Rail & Highway Bridge link both sides of the Yellow River. Beijing-Hongkong-Macao Expressway and Lianyungang-Huoerguosi Expressway intersect here. Huijia District has unique industries and huge potentials. The industrial advantages of Huiji District are more and more spotlighted with the acceleration of new-type urbanization. Huiji Wanda Plaza has been completed and put into operation, the first IKEA store in Henan Province is located in Huiji, and the business atmosphere in north of Zhengzhou becomes more and more prosperous. The industrial transformation and upgrading of Huiji District are being accelerated by the combined development which is driven by cultural tourism, business travel, agriculture tourism, industrial tourism and health tourism.
