Shanghai Opera House launches global talent search

The Shanghai Opera House will soon launch a global recruitment campaign for 33 vocalists and instrumentalists for the choir and the symphony orchestra.

Twenty of the positions are for the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, including senior roles, such as lead of the wind section. This is the first time recruiting has been international, said Xu Zhong, president of the Shanghai Opera House. "The selection process will be tough — opportunities come with challenges,"Xu said.

Auditions will be held at the Opera House on April 22-23 and applications close on April 7. Interested artists should email shgjy303@shanghaioperea.com.cn with scanned copies of an application, their CV, ID card, academic qualifications, awards, qualifications, a full-length photo and a five-minute video clip. Successful applicants will be announced on the Opera House's official website and WeChat account.
