On the morning of March the 3rd Deputy Secretary for the Provincial Committee, Li Jun, held a special meeting centred around the title “My Farm In Hainan” in order to hear the suggestions and opinions of citizens and local entrepreneurs and farmers.
It is believed that the My Farm In Hainan movement was developed in order to effectively address the “aces low” issue - whereby farmhands who should be excelling are falling behind due to a lack of proper resources - and promote the best of the unique tropic resources in Hainan. Through a combination of the internet and modern agricultural technology, established crop rotations and innovative farming, agriculture can be unified in such a way that consumers provide letted plots, are trusted with planting and germinating, they effectively adopt the product as their own. This will include many different forms of personalisation and thus satisfy the wants and needs of high income families, migratory markets and markets with high end consumer needs who have a keen interested in the diversification and personalisation of tropical Hainan produce.
Mr Li Jun also highlighted that the movement would be central to the overhaul of the lateral agricultural infrastructure. This is to focus on nurturing new models in the industry; advancing the development of a beautiful countryside and all-for-one tourism; increasing the efficacy and yield of local agricultural ventures; supporting the Poverty Alleviation Program; creating an “ace” industry. Target markets include the developed cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou with medium to high income families as well as the migratory markets. It is hoped that large scale sales events will turn consumers into investors turning Hainan into an operational farming trend that will induce a new business format and a new fashionable lifestyle.
