Today in Hainan's Hall of Agriculture it was made clear that work will begin this year on family farming projects. A directory of the province's family farms is to be compiled and training will begin to improve family farm production and operational capabilities. For the “Shared Family Farming” program a number of farms have been selected on account of their sufficient basic conditions to become fundamental farms in the program each with their own unique characteristics. These farms will offer consumers a place to rent, plant and foster their products allowing for high level customisation. This model will further the development of the new travel-farming industry whilst also raising efficiency of agriculture itself.
The program should be effective at maintaining and bettering the farming scenery of rolling fields and country culture while at the same time opening possibilities of a more casual agricultural industry whereby teaching farms work with star industries to promote the movement; this will produce a leisure farms and choice country travel trails. Another benefit is the development of the lychee ecosystem in Haikou, the so called White Sands and Green Tea Culture, aspects of local culture that have become important to Chinese heritage. With the gathering of data regarding this new industry will help improve the development in real time.
Hainan is currently planning the “My Farm In Hainan” project according to a shared economy ethic. With the assistance of online technology, customers shall enjoy Hainan produce from the comfort of their own homes but also the unique Hainan farming experience and resources. This will turn farmers into shareholders, harvest into income, stock goods into future commodities, rural land into farming villages. Farmers will earn more, agriculture will boom and rural areas will blossom.
