For Gongbu Tibetans in Nyingchi City, the New Year day is October 1st in Tibetan calendar. According to Tibetan customs, the whole family sit together to eat gnocchi on the 29th. They put hot pepper, salt, black charcoal, Chinese red pepper in it. Chinese red pepper represents people who speak ill of other; green onion represents someone's good at cooking; hot pepper represents people with bad temper; salt represents those people who are unwilling to do any work and represents lazy people. If someone got wool, that means the person is kind who has done many good things.
