  Nanning Economic and Technological Development Zone was approved as state-level development zone in May 2001. It now has a developed area of 7.68 square kilometers.
  
  Geographical Location
  Nanning Economic and Technological Development Zone (NETDZ) is situated in the south of Nanning, capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is 4 kilometers away from downtown Nanning, right on the passageway from Nanning to the port cities of Beihai, Qinzhou, Fangcheng and other border cities like Pingxiang. Located in the front of the Great Southwest China, being an linking area of free trade between China and ASEAN the zone is an integral part of the Nanning City, where the two economic rings - that of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and that of ASEAN-join together.
  
  Climate
  NETDZ is on the middle reach of the Yongjiang River and in the subtropical monsoon zone. It enjoys sufficient sunshine and plenty rainfall, its temperature averaging 21.7 centigrade and precipitation 1300 millimeters annually.
  
  Communication and Transportation
  Nanning boasts its favorable location by the sea, the border, the river and the railway, which secures it as the gateway of Southwest China to the sea.
  
  Harbor
  NETDZ is 104, 173 and 204 kilometers away from three deep water ports in Southwest China- Qinzhou, Fangcheng and Beihai respectively. The zone is adjacent to the Yongjiang River, 6 kilometers away from the largest cargo port- Beida, 5 kilometers away from Nanning Port, and only 2 kilometers away from Jiangnan Qinglong Port, from which ships can sail up to Yunnan Province via Longzhou and Baise, or drift down to the Pearl River Delta and sail directly to Hong Kong and Macao.
  
  Railways, highways and airport
  NETDZ is only 3 kilometers away from the Nanning Railway Station (the largest cargo station in Southwest China), which is an important converging point in Southwest China with Xiangqian, Qiangui, Lizhan and Nankun railways joining with each other there. Inside and near the zone are two national highways and two expressways connecting it with inland destinations and Vietnam and other Southeastern Asian countries. Besides, the distance between the zone and Nanning International Airport is only 15 kilometers.
  
  Industrial structure
  The zone has such pillar industries like electronics, telecommunications cable, fine chemicals, auto sales, auto parts, paper making, pharmaceuticals, medical appliances, foodstuff, agricultural product processing, commerce, service, real estate and construction.
  
  Investment Priorities
  Businesses that meet the State Government`s environmental requirements and industry policies are encouraged in the zone, in particular the projects of auto and car parts making, machinery manufacturing, aluminum processing, pharmaceuticals, food and agricultural product processing, bioengineering, electronics, communications, paper making, chemicals, hi-tech products and tertiary industries like real estate, logistics and tourism.
