I want a net pal because I can chat with her in the chat room after class. We can get more fun and we can be very happy after chatting. We can share our secrets. And we can play games together on the Internet. But I think we can’t play or chat too long, or it will affect our studies. I really want to make more friends to keep happy. And they can give me some advice.

I want a net pal; because I think it is very exciting. I can talk with her, and also share my little secrets with her. Then we can become good friends. Sometimes we can meet each other, and have lunch together. But my parent’s don’t agree.

I want a net pal because I want to make a friend. If she is alone, I will chat with it. We can have a good time during our chatting. We will think many thoughts. We will chat about our school, our home and our parents!

I want a net pal. When I stay in home I am lonely. I want to talk to my friend. So I want a net pal to chat with me when I’m free. Though I have many friends, I want to make more friends on the Internet. But my mother doesn’t let me chat on the Internet. She thinks I must study very hard now.

I want a net pal because I can learn more from my net pal. I can be my net pal’s friend. And I also can chat with him. I can share my little secrets with my net pal, too

I don’t want a net pal because I have too much homework every day. I don’t have time to chat to her. If I have time, I will surf the net. I prefer surfing the internet to chatting with a net-pal.

I have no net pal yet. Because my parents didn’t want me to do that. I want a net pal. Because I have a generation gap between my parents. So I feel lonely.

I haven’t a net-pal. I can’t surf the Internet at weekdays. In fact, I don’t want to have a net-pal. I think it can’t make my life more wonderful. It can only make me mistake my life. Life is hard and tiring. But the Net always tells me life is easy and happy. It will make me lazier and lazier!

I don’t want a net pal because I think chat in chat rooms is very messy. And it is always very wasteful of time.

I don’t want a net pal, because there are a lot of bad people on the Internet. They use a lot of beautiful language. When you believe it they will meet with you and kill you, then take out everything from your home. I don’t want that terrible thing to happen.

I really want to have a net pal because it’s interesting and popular. Although I couldn’t know the net pal very well now, I can get to know the net pal by chatting frequently. We can chat about our school, study and so on. It’s fun and happy.

I want to have a net-pal, because she can chat with me. When I’m happy, we can share our happiness. When I’m sad she can make me happier.”

In follow-up articles in this space we will further explore the mindset of this extraordinary generation. We will also examine the pressures facing Chinese students-and their parents- hinted at in their responses.
