The Chinese American Cooperation Council (CACC) is accepting applications for a four-week summer camp in China for students ages 10-17. While in China, students will visit Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou as well as many well-known sights such as the Great Wall. The educational camp will focus on Chinese culture, its people, the history and language with a variety of classes offered including Chinese language, martial arts, Chinese architecture, costumes, music and seal and character carving. The students will stay in foreign student dormitories furnished with private showers, air conditioning and cable television, and they will be chaperoned by two adult CACC members and five local teachers at each location. The cost is $2,200, which includes international airfare, transportation in China, room and board, tuition, activities and banquets. It does not include transportation to and from the San Francisco Airport and the visa application and processing fee. Register by mail with a non-refundable $100 deposit made payable to CACC Summer Camp in China mailed to CACC Summer Camp in China, 3152 Snowdrop Circle, Pleasanton 94588. Registration will also be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Sundays, March 28 and April 4, at Mohr Elementary School, 3300 Dennis Drive. Registration deadline is April 10. CACC is a nonprofit organization that offers educational and cultural programs to its members and the public.
