BEIJING, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Correspondents from two of Chinese mainland news organizations, the Xinhua News Agency and the People's Daily, are slated to resume reporting activities in Taiwan on Friday after a three-year suspension.

The four correspondents, two from Xinhua and two from the Communist Party of China newspaper, are en route to Taiwan by way of Hong Kong. They are expected to reach the island Friday afternoon.

They are to stay on the island for up to three months until their replacement, as the Taiwan authorities extended at the end of last month the stay of mainland journalists to three months, up from one month, on a rotation basis.

In April, 2005, the Taiwan authorities suspended reporting activities by the Xinhua News Agency and the People's Daily correspondents on the island.
