Hungary Gas Explosion Injures Eleven
At least 11 people were injured when a gas pipeline exploded in southwest Hungary Wednesday afternoon, MTI News Agency reported.
The explosion, which occurred in the southwestern city of Pecs, was triggered by gas leaking from the pipeline, which was reportedly damaged during construction work.
The injured, one of whom is in a critical condition, have been treated in a nearby hospital. According to the report, it took firefighters hours to stop the leak because the pipeline's main valve was damaged in the explosion.
Deputy mayor Bertalan Toth said the Pecs municipality would provide temporary houses for some 60 people who were forced to leave their homes after the blast.
