Chinanews, Shanghai, January 6 – Some people in China believe that 2007 is not a good year for marriage, as there is no Li Chun (the Beginning of Spring, the first solar item in the traditional Chinese lunar calendar). However, the rumor can not hold back young people from making their wedding vows this year.

In fact, the marriage boom started in 2006 and continues into 2007, according to statistics by Shanghai Marriage Association, and also by several star-rated restaurants, in 2/3 of which the reservations for wedding ceremonies in next May have been made.

According to astronomers, there will be a Li Chun at the end of the Year of the Pig, on February 4, 2008. Thus it is not right to blame the Year of the Pig as a “springless year”.

However, the marriage boom has driven the price of wedding feast up by nearly 10%, a regrettable thing in the joyous event.
