Carrie Lam accuses U.S. of 'double standards' over domestic, HK protests

Chief Executive of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Carrie Lam has accused the U.S. of "double standards" in its response to domestic and overseas protests.

"We have recently seen these double standards most clearly, with the riots in the United States. We can see how local authorities have reacted," said Lam at a press conference on Tuesday. "But then last year, when we had similar riots in Hong Kong, what was the U.S. position?"

Lam has called for more mutual respect during this special period, when the global economy has been hit hard by the coronavirus.
