International enrollments at U.S. universities drop
The number of new international students joining U.S. institutions has dropped significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is expected to have a serious impact on the higher education sector in the United States. The coronavirus pandemic has been worsening in the country, forcing the vast majority of universities in the country to shift classes online. This, coupled with the tightening of visa issuance by the U.S. government, has led to a sharp decline in new enrollments by international students.
