A former special education teacher from Oklahoma has been charged with rape after being accused of sleeping with a 16-year-old student at her home following a homecoming game, reports the New York Post.

Authorities began asking questions after a student at Carnegie Public Schools began circulating a nude photo of Andee Lantz, 26.

Though both the defendant and the teen initially denied the allegations, the teacher later allegedly admitted to police that she had sex with the teenage boy on two or three occasions. Lantz was arrested on December 18.

She said that their relationship began after a homecoming game when they were "riding around... and [the student] leaned in and kissed her, and it went from there."

While the age of consent in Oklahoma is 16, it doesn't count for sexual encounters between teachers and students, which is seen as second-degree rape in the eyes of the law.

Lantz resigned in the middle of November. Records show she was released on a US$15,000 bond on December 23 and her next court hearing is set for March 12.
