Survey shows 4 in 5 believe U.S. is falling apart

One week after the deadly protest by supporters of Donald Trump at Capitol Hill in Washington, a survey shows that around four in five Americans believe that their country is falling apart.

The Axios-Ipsos poll interviewed more than 1,000 adults earlier this week. It found that most respondents agreed with the statement “America is falling apart.”

Meanwhile, a similar proportion of those surveyed said that they are “proud to be an American.”

The riot last Wednesday caused the death of five people. The FBI has warned of the possibility of continued violence beginning Saturday as Joe Biden’s inauguration approaches.
