两名科学家获国家最高科学技术奖 Two scientists win China's top science award

Huang Xuhua(黄旭华), chief designer of China's first-generation nuclear submarines, and Zeng Qingcun(曾庆存), a meteorologist from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), received China's top science award medals(奖章 jiǎngzhāng) and certificates(证书 zhèngshū) during a ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Chinese President Xi Jinping presented China's top science award – the Highest Science and Technology Award – to two academicians for their outstanding(突出的 túchū de) contributions(贡献 gòngxiàn) to scientific(科学 kēxué) and technological(技术 jìshù) innovation(创新 chuàngxīn) on Jan.10,2020.

The National Science and Technology Award Conference honored 296 projects this year, with 46 winning the State Natural Science Award,65 the State Technological Invention Award, and 185 the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award. Ten foreign scientists received(获得 huòdé) the International Science and Technology Cooperation Award.
