A supermarket chain redefines online and offline shopping experiences amid coronavirus outbreak

A fresh food supermarket(超市 chāoshì) chain(连锁 liánsuǒ) in China has been playing an important role in guaranteeing(保证 bǎozhèng) a safe shopping environment for daily necessities(必需品 bìxūpǐn) for customers(顾客 gùkè) amid the coronavirus outbreak.

During the epidemic, the supermarket chain provides a location-based online channel through its app allowing consumers to buy(买 mǎi) from community shops anytime and have items delivered(快递 kuàidì) to their doorsteps, in some cases as fast as within 30 minutes from the time of order. Consumers can also make reservations(预订 yùdìng) for when they want their food to be delivered using the app. Meanwhile, non-contact delivery methods have been adopted, and couriers deliver to the neighborhood gates, so customers can enjoy high-quality fresh products and healthy delicious food at home.

Though the supermarket has cancelled(取消 qǔxiāo) on-site food services to prevent human-to-human transmission, customers can still enjoy instant food processing services, which specializes in providing meal solutions. Consumers can buy fresh products in the store, where they can be cleaned and processed. Taking seafood as an example, many consumers do not know how to cook seafood at home. The on-site cooking services include steaming(蒸 zhēng); frying(煎 jiān) with scallion and ginger; stir(炖 dùn) frying with black beans and soy sauce and others, to meet the needs of different consumers.
