Two tons of fresh(新鲜的 xīnxiān de) crayfish(小龙虾 xiǎo lóngxiā) were delivered(运送 yùnsòng) for the first time via a high-speed train from Wuhan to Shanghai, almost 690 kilometers, in only four hours on Tuesday, reports Changjiang Daily.

It was made possible thanks to cooperation(合作 hézuò) between local railway authorities in Wuhan and SF Express. Together, they will transport agricultural products from central China's Hubei Province on high-speed trains to the domestic market, according to the report.

Sales of crayfish are peaking, with about 200 tons expected to be transported from Hubei to over a dozen cities via the high-speed rail network this year.

Over the years, crayfish has become a popular snack(小吃 xiǎochī) around China. At present, Hubei accounts for about half of the total production in the country.
