When the harvest (丰收 fēngshōu) season comes, villagers in 400-year-old Zhanli village in China's Guizhou Province like to hang (挂 guà) ears of rice on wooden shelves as a traditional way to dry the grain.

China has designated the Autumnal Equinox (秋风 Qiūfēng) as the day to celebrate (庆祝 qìngzhù) the Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival (农民丰收节). Autumnal Equinox is one of the 24 solar terms (节气 jiéqì) of the Chinese lunisolar calendar and it usually falls between September 22 and 24, during the country's agricultural harvest season (季节 jìjié). The third Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival held on September 22 this year.
