China's postal and courier sector continued to witness robust expansion this year, handling over 50 billion courier (快递 kuàidì) packages in the first two quarters, roughly the same as for the whole of 2018.

Rural areas (农村地区 nóngcūn dìqū) have provided important momentum for the sector's growth, with about 30 percent of the parcels handled this year being sent to the countryside as service accessibility continues to expand at village level.

Data (数据 shùjù) from the State Post Bureau shows that around 300 million courier parcels are currently being delivered daily on average, serving around 600 million customers.
