A 20-something freelance illustrator has made waves online after using toilet paper (手纸 shŏuzhǐ) as a canvas. Shi Zhaobi has painted characters from well-known cartoons, TV series, and novels on over 30 rolls of toilet paper. She then made videos of her drawings and shared them on Douyin, with its overseas version called TikTok. Since starting in May, Shi has amassed over 30,000 followers and millions of likes on social media.
